Wound Care Research at Israeli Medical Center Leads to Hair Loss Breakthrough

Israeli Wound Care Research Leads to Hair Loss Breakthrough

(Denver, CO) Researchers at Israel’s leading university medical school have made two remarkable discoveries; one by design and the other by accident. A group of scientists led by Dr. Ella Lindenbaum decided to take an entirely new approach to healing wounds. They took an enriched cell culture medium that is commonly used to grow skin cells in petrie dishes and applied it directly to wounds and watched to see what would happen. “It was remarkable and almost immediate,” recalls Dr. Lindenbaum. “We saw wounds that resisted all conventional approaches begin to heal dramatically.” This confirmed to the team of researchers what they already guessed; this very potent and natural technique had extraordinary healing power that ultimately proved its ability by closing over two thirds of all the resistant wounds.

That would have been enough for any research team to be completely satisfied but what happened next was remarkable.. In 1998 a patient was brought to the University to receive therapy. It was the teen age daughter of the President of Uzbeckistan. She had fallen while climbing on some rocks and received a severe gash to the back of her head. “There had been a localized swelling that had cut off blood flow and impeded the natural healing that would normally occur” said Dr. Lindenbaum ”and she was brought to our clinic after the wound had been open for over eight months.” In addition to the agony of the open wound, the hair had all fallen out in a large circle around the wound. This is not unusual in these types of head wounds.

Yet, in a period of just a few weeks the head wound was closed successfully. But what was most startling was that the young girl’s hair began to grow back “One of our doctors at the clinic called me in my office and said Ella you need to come over here and look at something you won’t believe” Dr. Lindenbaum recalls. “Her hair was all coming back, it was quite remarkable.”     This led Dr. Lindenbaum to begin experimentation to produce a formula specifically to grow hair. Early results of her clinical studies spread around the world. In 1999 the British Broadcasting Service aired a television segment reporting on the research and its results. That program led thousands of persons from around the world to call and jam the University’s phone lines.

Dr. Lindenbaum had started out to help heal wounds and along the way found a formula that helped stop hair loss and grow hair. “We did not at first understand why it had happened but we ultimately determined that the cell culture medium made up of very rich concentrations of nutrients, amino acids, inorganic salts and growth hormone potentiators was somehow feeding the hair follicle the precise formula that it required for keratin synthesis.” Dr. Lindenbaum believes that in many cases of hair loss, including male pattern baldness and alopecia areata, there occurs an interruption of nutrient flow from the blood stream to the hair follicle. This approach seems to bypass that problem by feeding the follicle directly to achieve impressive positive effects. “We conducted a double blind placebo controlled study on men and women who were suffering hair loss and the results confirmed what we had seen anecdotally in our initial testing This study was published recently in the Online Dermatology Journal and can be accessed at http://dermatology.cdlib.org/91/original/alopecia/lindenbaum.html.

Francine Porter President and Founder of Osmotics Corporation (www.osmotics.com), a Cosmeceutical skin care company, based out of Denver Colorado tells what happened next. “ We became aware of this technology in late 2001 and were quite intrigued and impressed by its effectiveness on women. Most of our customers are women and there is a real problem for them in finding effective treatments that are non hormonal and not just geared for men.” In fact the data show that 40% of all women over the age of 35 are suffering hair thinning and loss. Unlike men, who tend to lose hair in specific areas, women tend to suffer diffuse hair loss all over the scalp. Hormonal changes, stress and a host of other initiating factors are responsible but very little was being done to address their problems. “We immediately recognized the potential and licensed the technology, ultimately formulating and launching the product FNS Follicle Nutrient Serum” said Mrs. Porter. “We decided to position it as a grooming product for fine and thinning hair to avoid the huge expense and time consumption of pursuing a drug designation necessary for us to make the claim that the product stops hair loss and grows hair.”

Nevertheless the sales category does not seem to change its effectiveness. Says Lisa
Ball, recently interviewed on King TV* in Seattle… “I had used Rogaine for women for several months and my hair kept falling out, I saw a story about FNS and decided to give it a try. Within four weeks my hair stopped falling out, it was rather dramatic. I actually could not believe that a cosmetic product could be working better than the Rogaine so I stopped using the FNS to see if my hair loss had somehow stopped on it’s own. In no time my hair was falling out again in handfuls. I resumed my FNS and it worked again and this time I am not taking anymore chances. I am never going to be without this product.”

Francine Porter says that “We are always gratified to hear of positive results from our customers. It is nice to know that your efforts have made a difference in people’s lives. Many of our female customers are buying it for their husbands and boyfriends.” FNS has been featured on over 200 television news segments, in magazines such as Men’s Health and was recently chosen by Allure Magazine as a Breakthrough Product of the Year.

A two month supply of FNS costs $65 and comes with a money back guarantee. FNS can be purchased at www.osmotics.com or by phone at 800 440 1411.
